Top 8 Squarespace Integrations for Small Business Owners

Serious colleagues sitting at table with gadgets in cafe - Squarespace integrations for small businesses

A few years ago, I (Mara) “cut the cord” and canceled our cable subscription to save money. We only watched streaming services anyway, so I thought it was a good move.

Before I knew it, we were paying for monthly subscriptions to Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, Prime Video, and Apple TV+.

Then came HBO Max and Peacock Premium…

…and YouTube TV…

…and then Netflix changed their terms, and I could no longer freeload off my parents’ account. And just like that, we’re paying almost as much for all of our streaming services as we were paying for cable!

Who else is in the same boat? 🙋🏼‍♀️

If you’re a small business owner, you might feel the same way about all the different tools and softwares you’re subscribed to.

In an environment where you need 57 different subscriptions for different business needs, it’s refreshing to find a platform that consolidates several things into one. That’s one of the many reasons why we use (and love) Squarespace. It’s way more than just a website builder. It comes with tons of features that make business owners’ lives easier.

Today, we’re going over 8 super helpful Squarespace integrations and add-ons that are perfect for small business owners who are looking for an all-in-one option.

*Important Note for you at the bottom about our approach and take on software and tools in general. (Hint: it usually varies by business!) 😉

Top 8 Squarespace Integrations and Add-Ons

1. Domains, Hosting, and Google Workspace

Before I (Mara) joined the team at Hoffbeck + Co, I worked for an agency that built websites on WordPress. Our website clients had three different platforms just for their website: their domain account (usually GoDaddy), their hosting platform (the company that keeps the site live on the internet), and, of course, WordPress (the website builder). That’s a lot to keep track of just to keep your website live, right?

With Squarespace, you can have your domain, hosting, and website builder all rolled into one. Same login, same bill. Plus, you can even set up a Google Workspace (previously known as GSuite) account through Squarespace. This allows you to create custom Gmail email addresses to match your domain (like ours: @hoffbeck.co), and get all the Google tools you know and love like Google Drive, Google Calendar, and more for your business.

2. Ecommerce and POS (Point-Of-Sale) Tools

One of the most crucial Squarespace integrations is their ecommerce suite.

If you sell products or services online and/or in-store, Squarespace comes with its own (impressive) suite of ecommerce tools. If you have a Business plan or higher, you can easily set up an online store to sell products, services, subscriptions, courses, and digital products (more on some of these following).

And the shipping, taxes, fulfillment, and payment details? Those are included, too.

Squarespace also partners with the POS platform Square. This enables you to accept in-person payments on your iPhone or iPad, and it automatically syncs with your online store.

You can print shipping labels directly from Squarespace, and there’s even an option to sell products for local pickup.

3. Appointment Scheduling

Starting at $16 per month, you can use Squarespace’s built-in appointment calendar and scheduling platform.

You can set up different appointment and class types, add your availability, and add your calendar right on your website so customers can easily book with you.

Here are a few quick highlights of the scheduling feature:

  • You can take online payments upon appointment/class scheduling.

  • You can create intake forms for customers to fill out before booking.

  • You can sync your appointments with the calendar app of your choice, such as Google, Outlook, iCloud, or Office 365.

  • Customers can easily cancel or reschedule appointments within the parameters you set.

  • You can link your scheduler to Google Search and Google Maps via Reserve with Google, so customers can book directly through Google.

  • You can automate email and SMS appointment confirmations, reminders, and followups.

We LOVE this feature and use it on our own website for our Free First Calls and Sessions. See an example here!

4. Email Marketing

Squarespace Email Campaigns

Back in 2018, Squarespace launched its own email marketing platform: Squarespace Email Campaigns. Priced at $5 and up, you can design, build, and send emails all from the dashboard of your Squarespace website.

With beautiful email templates, an intuitive editor, and analytics, Squarespace Email Campaigns has all the basic features you need to start building your email list and nurturing your customers.

Mailchimp Integration

While Squarespace Email Campaigns is a good option for those looking to consolidate tools, we use Mailchimp to send our Weekly Dose of Disruption emails (get on our list here!).

We are big Mailchimp fans over here. Because it’s an email-first platform, the automation and workflow tools just can’t be beat. 🔥

Although it’s a third-party email platform, it integrates pretty seamlessly with Squarespace – plus, they have a free plan that’s great if you have fewer than 500 contacts in your email list.

You can easily link your email signup form with Mailchimp so that when someone signs up for your email list, their info automatically populates in your Mailchimp audience list. You can even segment the emails into different email lists and set up automated tags to further customize your email campaign strategy within Mailchimp.

5. Online Course Platform

It seems like online courses have taken over the digital product space over the past few years. If you’ve ever taken an online course, you might be familiar with platforms like Teachable, Kajabi, and Thinkific. In August of 2023, Squarespace released its own all-in-one course creation and hosting platform, Courses.

Now, you can design, promote, sell your online courses – all within the Squarespace platform.

Here are a few notable features of Squarespace Courses:

  • Upload videos, files, and other content and organize them into lessons and modules

  • Design a branded course experience to match your website with the drag-and-drop builder

  • Option to sell lifetime access to your course with a flat fee or a monthly or annual subscription membership

  • Ability to enroll students in cohorts

  • Access to analytics and customer insights

If you have a Business plan or higher on Squarespace, this is included with your subscription (with a 9% transaction fee).

6. Member Areas

If you want to add premium content behind a paywall (think: Patreon), Squarespace has you covered.

Squarespace Member Areas allows you to add and charge for premium content, such as:

  • Classes

  • Videos

  • Newsletters

  • Workshops

  • 1:1 Coaching and Mentorship

  • Digital Summits and other digital networking events

  • Podcasts

Like Squarespace Courses, the Member Areas feature gives you the option to charge a one-time fee for lifetime access or a recurring monthly or annual membership.

7. CRM and Client Invoicing Tools

In its latest move in the quest for total website platform domination, Squarespace recently announced the addition of CRM and client invoicing tools to its platform.

Here’s what you can do with Squarespace’s CRM tools:

  • Create comprehensive client intake forms

  • Send invoices and payment reminders

  • Keep track of project notes, milestones, and deadlines

  • Create and send proposals

These features are included on the Squarespace Business plan and above.

As of the date this post was written (February 6, 2024), there is not a capability for sending contracts, which can be a notable drawback for some – but since these project management tools are a relatively new feature, we would expect to see Squarespace HQ roll out some more robust features in the coming years.

While certainly not a replacement for other CRM and project management softwares like Dubsado or Honeybook, Squarespace’s tools are adequate for a new business owner who needs to send a few proposals and invoices per month – and we love a company that is always striving to make things easier for new entrepreneurs to get off the ground! 👏🏼

8. Unsplash Stock Photos

Squarespace integrates with Unsplash to provide stock photos inside the website builder. This is SO handy to be able to search for and add high-quality, FREE stock images as you’re building your website or posting a new blog.

All you have to do is add an image block to your page in the Squarespace website builder, click on the + sign in the window that pops up, and then click the “Search Images” tab. Here, you can type in terms to describe the type of image you’re looking for. Once you’ve found the perfect image, just click on it and it’ll add it to your page!

Squarespace Integrations for Business Owners Looking for an All-Inclusive Option

Let me tell you something. While I was writing this blog post, I literally Googled to see if there was a company that bundles all the TV streaming services into one monthly subscription.

Spoiler alert: this doesn’t exist (yet!). Bummer.

The point is, simplicity in our lives and our businesses can be so beneficial. Squarespace is gunning to be an all-inclusive platform for small business owners to sell their products and services. With a website builder, a robust suite of marketing services, light CRM tools, appointment scheduling, course hosting, ecommerce, and so much more – it’s a great option for business owners who are looking to consolidate business tools.

*Important Note: Even still, we’re never going to be the ones who push you towards all of these features if they aren’t the best fit for your needs. Sometimes the simplicity of an all-in-one platform is the best fit, and sometimes it’s not. We, ourselves, use a variety of these awesome tools and integrations, and sometimes we don’t. We’re always here to help you look at the fact set of your unique business, then help you make a plan and decisions about tools that best suit and fit your needs.
